Jeanne
M Stives Jewelry is hand crafted jewelry made with semiprecious stones,
freshwater pearls, sterling silver, gold filled, wood, coral, and unique
glass creations, among others. Her designs use these elements in playful
and sometimes non-traditional combinations to create pieces that are
timeless treasures.
Each
piece is one-of-a-kind or few-of-a-kind. The pieces featured on this
website are a sampling of her work. JMS Jewelry is available by hosting
an open house in your home, by commission, or at the craft shows listed
below. She also hosts her own open houses on occasion.
Check
out my work often as I am always creating something new.

Originally
from West Allis, Wisconsin, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from
UW-Milwaukee. But my degree wasn’t in art, it was in theater.
After college, I lived in Chicago for a year and got a job as an assistant
to the costume designer for a show, but I mostly temped. Then it was
back to Milwaukee for a summer theater job before moving to New Jersey
for a job at McCarter Theatre in Princeton as a stage manager. I met
my husband during my first year in NJ and ended up putting down roots
instead of moving on and continuing the gypsy life that is life in the
theater. I chose to leave theater for a job with a more traditional
work schedule to raise a family. I have a wonderful son and now work
at the other end of not-for-profit for a major health care philanthropy.
(There’s sort of a non-traditional balance in my life that is
also paralleled in some of my work.) About a year ago, I had back surgery
and started dabbling with jewelry-making during my recovery. The long
days of recovery gave me hours to really concentrate, study, design,
and experiment. Well, dabbling soon led to passion and before I knew
it, I found myself with a lot of jewelry. It seemed I found something
to focus my creative energy on that was also very rewarding personally.
I took the next step and invited a few people over to get some feedback
on my work and, to my immense relief, they also liked my jewelry. At
that moment, I felt like I came home. So JMS Jewelry was born.
